What do I do if my MOT runs out during the coronavirus pandemic?

The government recently clarified the applicability of the MOT exemption implemented as a result of COVID-19. Mandatory testing will be reinstated from 1st August 2020.

If your vehicle MOT is due on or after 1st August 2020, you will need to book an MOT as usual. A valid MOT must be in place for you to return your vehicle at the end of your contract (as applicable).

If your vehicle MOT is due between 30 March 2020 and 31st July 2020, you will still receive a 6-month exemption. However, all vehicles must continue to be properly maintained and kept in a roadworthy condition. You're able to obtain your MOT sooner should you wish to, even if exempt from legal requirement.
